This piece is a substantial reworking of Cantilena – itself a salvaged song from the withdrawn opera Yellow Earth Ridge. The lyrics are by Pam Lambert.

The part-song is written for SSAATBB choir, with piano accompaniment, and suggests an escapism to a paradisiacal “land beyond the waterfall, where everything is Spring, forever green and lovely”.

Another Island has also been arranged for female voice choir (SSAA) with soprano solo and piano. It is dedicated to Adrian Pitts and the TGS Motet Choir from Tonbridge, Kent.
