... AND GLORIOUS GROWS THE VINE

An embellished transcription of Op.8 for violin with piano accompaniment

These four short pieces for violin and piano were arranged in February 1991 and revised in 2008.

This set is a substantial elaboration of Counting the Beats, four love poems by Robert Graves, set by the composer in 1984. The work takes its title from the final song, ‘The far side of your moon is black, and glorious grows the vine’.

The original piano part was unchanged but the melodic line has been completely reworked to produce a new free-standing piece.
